The products used in the processes have changed dramatically over the past few years.
Companies invest millions of pounds into developing new paint products and part of the repairing job roles is attributed into learning and understanding the new products.
Tests are always being carried out and boat show attendance is a necessity if I am expected to understand and advise on new products.
I hand pick a small platter of products which I consider as the best performers within their field.
So far I have invested 16 years of testing and learning specific products which are used for specific tasks.
Having a select list of the best products enables for the best quality workmanship.
Whilst having a broader knowledge of the field allows me to understand and use other products that might fulfil a customer’s requirements.
With each new development in paint technology comes a new understanding and process. To understand the science behind it all is what keeps me on my toes.
The same can be said for timber.
I have realised that as time has passed the quality of timbers I once relied upon has sometimes become debatable.
Keeping on top of this means I must carefully select the wood mills and suppliers who have a reliable quality and delivery.
The faith I invest in them is important because without the highest of qualities in the timber I would not be able to create the perfect product for my customers.

We make a conscious effort where possible to use local firms and Harbour Craft not only ticks this box but they also bring to the table both expertise and good value for money. In todays market place the clients we work with require a high level of bespoke options aboard their yachts whether they’re new, used, sail or power Harbour Craft have always come to aide. From small modifications to larger bespoke installations that have always approached the tasks at hand in a professional and timely manner, exceeding expectations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to any boat owner or trade customer.
I used the services of Harbour Craft for a repair to my poor old rowing boat which needed some TLC, I wasn’t even sure that James would be happy with such a minor job. I was wrong. I had top class service with a smile. James arrived promptly at the agreed time, did a thorough check and repair on the boat and gave me some much needed follow up advice. I couldn’t fault the service or the price that was charged. I would definitely use them again.
